I really don’t know where today went. I got up late and had a leisurely breakfast. Then several hours went by and I don’t know what I did to pass the time.
It rained most of the day. Not a soaking rain but enough that you could have gotten nice and wet if you went walking in it. So we waited until there was a bit of a break in the afternoon and got out for a nice walk.
After our walk I changed the sheets on my bed an did a couple loads of laundry. And before I knew it, it was 8:00 p.m.! And then I hit my sewing room.
I finished up this fun little hat using Brandon Mably’s Sholl fabric. I just LOVE this one!

I went back to the construction techniques I has used on previous hats and it all worked really well. I did make a point to keep fabrics smooths to valid sewing in puckers. And it all worked. Here’s a link to the pattern I’m using:

Look how good that spot is for the lining!

Here’s some eye candy…

When I finished this hat I got the fabric and lining all cut for a new hat out of these KFC fabrics.

That iris fabric is going to make a really fun hat. Here’s the piees for two hats all cut, fused and ready to sew together.

I’ve taken some Advil PM so I’m fading fast. I’ll be able to get an earlier start tomorrow and get more done.
That latest hat is really great. Just right.

Another great fabric combination…except the flower is an orchid, not an iris!

Another fabulous hat! Bender is a super model! Does he get treats after the photo shoot?
Someday I hope to spend a whole summer in the great Northwest! Too many irons in the fire for now. Send some rain our way!

Bender IS a good boy, and gets lots of treats!
You should visit again in the summer. So far thjis feels like an old fashioned summer where it didn’t get warm until July 4!

This is the one I’m using. Printed at 100% is a little small for my head 105% fits perfectly. My head is 23 inches. http://orangebettie.com/2021/05/31/summer-bucket-hat-tutorial-and-free-sewing-pattern/

Thanks! I’ve given a couple away. One will be mine. Maybe more. Not sure what I’ll do with them. You should make one, or twelve!

I am so enjoying reading your blog. Can you tell me which pattern you chose for your hat and how to determine your size? I would love to make one.

I’m using the Orange Bettie pattern:. http://orangebettie.com/2021/05/31/summer-bucket-hat-tutorial-and-free-sewing-pattern/
I’ve landed on the size I like by trial and error. The pattern printed at 100% is a little snug. Printed at 105% is pretty perfect for me. my head is 23 inches.
The Sweet Red Poppy pattern has three different sizes. I only made one from that pattern so I don’t have much to offer on fit.
Good luck!
