I posted some photos of my Brandon Mably Interweave quilt on the Kaffe Fassett Collective page on Facebook yesterday. And today Brandon Mably, the fabric designer, commented on it! Here’s an image capture…

What an amazing honor to have the fabric designer say such wonderful things about what I made and about me as a creator! I’ve been smiling since I saw this!
I’m laying on the sofa winding down at the end of the day. It’s around 10:30 and I’ve already taken Advil PM so I can get to be early since I lose an hour of sleep tonight. Have I mentioned before that my favorite day of the year is the day in the spring when we go to Daylight Saving Time? I just LOVE having that extra light I the evening! I’m so excited.
You might be laughing that I’ve Taken an Advil PM at 10:30 and am planning an early night. Well, I typically stay up until 2 am every night. I’m a died I the wool night owl and at 10:00 at night I have hours left!
I started out my day at 8:30 for pickleball. Only six people showed up but I got a lot of play and had some good games. After that I high tailed it down to Molalla for Rico’s weekly sheep herding lesson. He was pretty wild today! I think the rainy weather this week and his lack of activity may him especially enthusiastic. The weather was nice…

Toward the end of our lesson a wild squall came through. The rain was falling sideways while the sky was blue in the background. Luckily it didn’t last very long. Good think Rico doesn’t mind if he gets wet.

Our drive home was lovely. I just love winding my way north through farm country after our lessons.

We drove through a few little squalls on the way home.
When I got home I did a little sewing and put together about ten more of the low value nine patches. After a walk with my boys and a good dinner I was back in my sewing room making bland nine patches. I got everything sewn that I cut out last night. I think I have a total of 30 nine patches. I’m thinking I’ll need 40 for this quilt top.

Since I’m using strip sets there are going together quickly and easily.

I might make a few of the green blocks that will make this quilt interesting. I still have a little planning to do, but not much. I’m pretty much ready to start cutting and then get sewing! Can’t wait to see how this looks.
I got invited to play pickleball tomorrow. It should be some good games.

You deserve to be chuffed. Your quilt is so gorgeous and proper recogniti
thank you! I love this quilt. Brandon’s comment was so extra!
Anne
Hi Anne
What a wonderful accolade… and well deserved, your colour and pattern combinations are always so original and totally stunning.
Congratulations!
Warm Regards
Dina
Thrilled for you , Anne and what a lovely, friendly and heart- felt comment. Not surprised you’re chuffed.
Well done and well deserved.

It really made my day! What a great way to start a weekend… which was fabulous, by the way!
Anne
Anne, that is absolutely the greatest feeling! To have Brandon call you out and praise your wonderful choices and your extreme talent! Wow indeed, how awesome! And you and Brandon keep all the rest of us inspired every day! Thank you so much.
thanks! It was very special! It’s always nice to have people notice my work, but the designer of the fabrics I used… that’s something over the top!
Anne
Wow, Anne! As you wrote, what an honor to have Brandon Mably write such a wonderful comment about your quilt!!! The accolades are well deserved as your creations are always gorgeous. You always put your own spin on patterns and colors, which makes them unique. I think I might print that screen shot, border it with some Brandon fabric, frame it, and hang it in your sewing room. During times when your inspiration well is running on the low side, I can see where it could be just the motivation that you need to get back on the sewing path! I hope you stay on Cloud 9 for a long time!!!
I had thought printing it and hanging it in my sewing room was a good idea. Now I love the idea of combining it with some Brandon fabric! Thanks!!
Anne
“Walking on sunshine” comes to mind! On those dreary days you’ll always have those warm and genuine comments to remind you what a creative quilter you are. Your fans can comment here on your blog but to actually have Brandon, Phillip or Kaffe speak up…. well there’s no topping that in my book. Congrats. You truely were worthy of his praise for such a unique use of jumble and ALL Brandon designs. And your response was gracious as well. I’m just saying…. Walking on sunshine….
That sums it up! I can’t stop smiling about it! Might be the high point of my quilting career!
Anne
COOL BEANS!
Exactly!
Anne
Oh wow! Now th
Your comment got cut off.
Anne
Kudos to you! I’m not surprised Brandon was impressed – you have an amazing eye for putting fabrics together and I’m not sure I’ve even seen a quilt with just his designs!
Can’t wait to see what you do with the greens on the current quilts! My brain is speculating – alternate plain blocks, green nine patches, HSTs made with half green, half low volume, green frames for those little nine patches – what will it be???
I’m sure it will be amazing, whatever it is…
Rachel
Had wanted to do a quilt with all Brandon designs for some time. It definitely has a unique feel. It’s special.
It will probably be a few days before I have that green fabric worked up. I have a busy week! I hope it works!
Anne
WOW, I would frame Brandon’s comment!
Love all your beautiful quilts and KFC fabric.
That’s such a great idea! I might just do that!
Thanks,
Anne

Your comment didn’t come through completely. It just says “Wh.”
Anne
Wow! That is pure awesomeness!!! Yes, print it and frame that message 😻😻😻😻😻!
That’s such a great idea. I think I will print it and put it in a frame for my sewing room!
Anne
Well deserved praise.
Wow!!! How incredible is that; to be followed and complimented on the creative use of his fabric by such a famous designer! Then again your followers have known that all along!

Anne
All is right in the universe when two people who inspire each other connect. And to have it happen on the weekend we spring forward- even the sun got involved! Congratulations!
So much magic all around! thanks so much!!!
Anne
That is such a compliment, coming from the designer of the fabric that you use!

Wow ♥️ awesome honor to have the fabric designer say those wonderful comments about your quilt! You deserve the recognition! Rico looks so happy 🥰. Looking forward to seeing your next masterpiece ♥️
It’s a great topping to a quilt I already love!
Rico just loves working sheep. It is definitely his happy place.
Anne
Wow! Kudos to a great quilt maker. Your quilt is amazing and it’s so nice Brabdon Mably saw it and commented so nicely. Well done!
I really like this quilt. His comment just makes me love it more!
Anne
how exciting to have Brandon as an admirer..👍🏻
I can’t stop smiling!
Anne
I like more light in the evening so I don’t start thinking it is bed time at 6 pm. However, I am a morning person, and often start work at 7. I don’t like riding my bike to work in the dark. I really think daylight savings time is silly now.
I saw a saying earlier this year. “Every night at midnight I’m surprised to find out it’s only 6 pm!” Haha! That’s me! I would be happy to have it stay dark until 10 am if I could get more light in the evenings during the winter.
Anne
Ok Anne, I’m already winded just reading your activities, and your plans for the new day. I’m very happy for you, but i will keep my slower pace. Congrats on receiving this very positive feedback from the fabric designer. Your creations are cutting edge.
DST is a day for celebrating in our house. We love the light, and I leave hibrrnation right after the longer days start. Enjoy a great week upcoming.
You’ll be happy to know I played pickleball for 45 hours Sunday and had a BLAST!!! And I’m exhausted tonight!
We feel the same way about DST! You have put it a great way!!!
Anne
Congrats on fun comments from Mr Mably!! Love that he follows wonderful creatives that love playing with his works!! And told you so!!
He doesn’t comment on that group very often. So I feel pretty special! An extra fun thing on a quilt top I already love!
Anne
CONGRATULATIONS!!! YOU DESERVE this lovely compliment!!! Thanks for your fabulous sense of humor and your constant inspiration!!! ❤️

I’m learning pickleball today!
Oh! Pickleball! it’s so much fun! I played 4.5 hours today and had an absolute blast!!! I hope you like it!!!
Anne
WooHoo!!! Such a complement for you use of his fabrics! You go girl!!!
It was so much fun! I can’t stop smiling about it!
Anne
I’m not at all surprised that Brandon Mably commented so favorably on your quilt! I’m always amazed at how you make such phenomenal fabric choices filled with color and varieties of value, pattern, texture, and scale. I’m always amazed at your work and wish I had your gift for picking fabrics! You are truly an amazing and intuitive artist. And also so generous to share what you do.
You know, I always feel like I just pull a pile of fabrics, maybe too many, remove some that don’t feel right, and that’s it. I don’t agonize over it. There must be something natural there because I have a hard time explaining how I choose fabrics.
Thanks so much for your lovely comments!
Anne
I’m thrilled for you. What a well deserved honor. Chuffed indeed!
thanks! It’s been a really fun thing and I’m still smiling!
Anne
I find drinking a magnesium drink CALM is a better sleep aid than Advil PM. Easier on your liver for sure plus it tastes good. Maybe give it a try..?
Love your art style!
Deb G
Thanks for the suggestion!
Anne
How great to be acknowledged by the fabric designer! Your pictures are so nice. I love the one’s with your dog(s) too.
I’m very lucky to have such photogenic dogs. Bender loves to pose. But it makes Rico very sad. I’m glad he tolerates and forgives me.
Anne
You should be so proud. One of the most exquisite quilts I’ve seen. Congrats 💜💜

Thanks! It was a fun quilt to make and extra special to have it noticed by the fabric designer!
Anne
Good gracious girl, you have more energy than the energizer bunny. If I could get half of what you get done, I would be amazing. You inspire me. Judith
I’m on a bit of a tear right now. I don’t know why I get like this but I just have this drive to create. I’ll ride the wave while it’s strong!
Anne
A wonderful and well deserved compliment from Brandon Mably. Enjoying your emails from a follower in New Zealand. Your quilt is beautiful.
Thanks! It really made my week! Thanks for reading from so far away!
Anne
That Brandon ‘tipped his hat to you’ is just recognition for your wonderful choice of colour and execution. You are so worth it – being so creative. I live the opposite end of the day to you. I am up before 0430 and love the early morning and sunrise [when there is one in the Northwest!] but go down by 9pm. enjoy the extra hour of evening light, I will try not to scowl. cleo
I always just feel like I throw fabrics together. I’m lucky that things just work!
I used to hate getting up early in the morning. It’s easier now than it used to be because I have chosen recreation that requires I get up early. I can do it but I’d rather stay up late!
Anne
glad to see you get recognition for your great quilt!
It was pretty fun!
Anne
What a thrill and honour to get a lovely message from Brandon Mably. I’m sure you are going to be on cloud 9 for a long time.I admire your talents not only in the quilting world but in your sport of pickleball and the training and dedication to your beautiful “pups”.

I can tend to getting obsessed with certain things. I don’t typically dabble. I dive in head first. I might not stay in the water long but while I’m in there I’m swimming!
Anne
Well, what a wonderful compliment you received from Brandon Mably! And may I say that it was well deserved! What a beautiful and perfectly color designed quilt!
thank you! It might be the highlight of my quilting career!
Anne
Congratulations on getting Brandon’s recognition- You deserve it!!!
Marti
thanks!
Anne
AMAZING! You pack in daily activity of 4 people Great doings, congratulations on the acknowledgment 👌🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I like to be active, but I like my time on the sofa too!
Anne
Congratulations, Anne! You deserve all the praise you received. 🥳 I’m certain Brandon (and Kaffe) realize your gorgeous quilts, inspire creation of more quilts by your followers. It’s like a circle ⭕️ of life … with fabric marketing!
You may be right. I’m guessing my blog has made them a fair bit of money!
Anne
How wonderful to be recognized by Brandon Mably for your wonderful Interweave Quilt. I’m wondering how he “discovered” it. Kaffe and he should feature it in their next book! It’s truly wonderful. I’m thinking about making an Interweave quilt with Aboriginal fabrics. Hmmmmm?
I posted it on the Kaffe Fassett Collective group page on Facebook. Philip Jacobs is there all the time and comments often. Brandon is there occasionally. I think he scans what’s there every now and again an probably recognized all his fabrics in my quilt.
I think the interweave would be great with Aboriginal fabrics. the blocks are big enough to let those prints sing!
