A Rainy Sunday and This and That

I had planned to go and play pickleball this afternoon but it rained off and on all day. So no pickleball for me. But it was nice to have some decent rain. I almost thought I was going to have to turn my furnace on again it was so cool today. It’s so hard to do that in June!

Since I was stuck in the house I decided I’d dig in and finish the two blocks I needed for the batik disappearing four patch quilt. That didn’t take very long.

Then I tossed them up on the wall with a few other blocks to see how they look.

I think they’re going to be okie dokie.

Once I had that done I decided to go ahead and make some Frankenbag panels from the block I cut wrong and some of the other scraps. The panel from the incorrect block was quick to put together. The other panel was really a mishmash of scraps.

It’s nice to use up those scraps.

When I had that done I decided to sew together one of the rows of my X & + quilt. So that means I only have three more rows to sew together.

Once that was done I decided to go ahead and make the quilt sandwiches for the bag panels and get them quilted. I knew that if I didn’t get them done I’d put the panels away somewhere and they’d sit there forever. I have a friend who wants a purple and turquoise bag, so if she likes this one, win win!

It’s been a long time since I made a bag. I hope I can remember how to do it!

I love the quilting!

Somewhere between moments of sewing I actually went and did some serious grocery shopping.

These boys are pretty tired tonight after a day of doing pretty much nothing.

They’ll get more activity tomorrow.

  2. Your disapearing nine patch is great … love it. I’m impressed and a bit envious (in a good way wishing to be that focused and organized) on how you move from one project to the next using your time well. The boys are wonderful (I have four dogs myself) and great companions. They are fortunate to have you and you them … great matchup. Wishing you a wonderful week and thanking you for all you share.

      1. I have the same love of dogs. I started with Boston Terriers that loved fly ball and agility courses and are fantastic companions. I added a new dog every six years so that I always had at least two to keep the family complete. At some point, I took in a rescue that was a wolf hound black lab mix and I have been doing rescue ever since. My guy friend recently bought me a teeshirt that says “I love my dogs … well you, not so much!!” He knows me well … ha ha. I think of myself as a quilting dog lady!! I enjoy your quilts and your postings in general and love seeing photos of the boys!! Sending well wishes and thanks.

      2. My next door neighbors when I was about 7 had a Boston terrier named Taza. She was so ball crazy and had tons of drive. I’ve always though she would have made an awesome agility dog. I’ve loved Boston terriers ever since.

        It’s amazing to me how many friends I have who I met through dogs but we have quilting in common. some of my favorite people!

  3. Hello, I have enjoyed following you these last few weeks, Thanks for sharing your project. I know this takes time to do. On one or two of you last post you mentioned a “Portable Design Wall”. Did you make it yourself or was it a purchase? Is it heavy to take place to place? I need one and had one using a pull down shade….. it “worked but I am short and the design wall wha hard to reach the top. I need something free standing so I can angle it again my DR wall to put blocks at the top… being 5” has some challenges! Thanks for any help or ideas that you can share. Gwen Ziegler

  4. Hi Anne, If you really forgot how to make the Frankenburg bag, I know a lady who did an awesome tutorial on how to do it if you want to look her up! LOL
