Well, It Got Me Too

I was all ready for my vacation to start this morning when it was brought to a screeching halt by a positive COVID test.

So, no vacation for me. No trip to Seattle to see my aunt. No visit with my brothers. And all that work in getting my house ready, and I’m the only one who will appreciate it. At least I have a fridge full of food to hold me over!

I feel pretty good. It really only feels like a cold and not a very bad one. My sinuses are congested and I have a cough but not a terrible cough. And I had a fever earlier today but Tylenol took care of it. I’m being careful to drink lots of water and eat good food. I just had dinner and I hadn’t eaten since lunch. It just never occurred to me to eat. I had pulled some home made chicken tortilla soup out of my freezer this morning.

I have all the stuff ready to make spaghetti… I planned to make it for dinner tonight. So I will make a big pot, eat some, and freeze the rest. It will be nice to have that in the freezer too.

My doctor has approved monoclonal antibodies and they should be delivered tonight. They help boost your antibody response and help make the virus more mild. I also had my second booster vaccine about a month ago. So if I had to get it, this is a good time to get it.

I had a few phone calls with nurses and doctors today. Apparently, I should feel better soon and my symptoms should be gone in five days. Then I’ll need to isolate for another five days. Pretty much the exact length of my vacation.

So, I’m thinking I may just go to work next week if I feel ok and will plan some vacation time when I’m better and can enjoy it.

Since I’ll be stuck at home for ten days. I hope I’ll feel better in the next couple days so I can get into my sewing room and get some stuff done. Since I can’t go anywhere, I think I’ll actually work a few days next week instead of burning my vacation sitting at home. Then I’ll schedule some vacation later.

I’m pretty sure I picked it up at Pickleball on Sunday. I’m still wearing masks to the grocery store. So pickleball was the first indoor activity I’ve done without a mask.

Apparently the pandemic ISN’T actually over!!!

Bender is already terribly bored with this sickness stuff. He played and played with this ball this morning and then fell asleep like this! He was so groggy when he woke up!

Hopefully I’ll be able to get out for some walks later this weekend. The doc said to be sure I don’t over do it. But these boys are going to be bouncing off the walls if they don’t get their walks!

I leave you tonight with this… Where’s Rico?

Please send positive energy my way!!!

  3. Well, about the only good thing about this is that you have a wonderfully clean home. I only do that much cleaning when I’m having company too. That sounds like a good plan to work a few days and use the vacation days later.

  8. Sorry to hear you got IT. A friend of mine, who is vaccinated and doubled boosted, is just finishing up her 10 days of isolation. Her symptoms sound very similar to yours. But by day 3 or 4 she had afternoon tiredness. So if there’s something you want to get done, do it in the AM. Be well. Take care.

  9. Oh I’m so sorry you got Covid and won’t see your family as planned. I guess, as you mentioned, on the bright side, your house is all spiffed up and you can at least enjoy the fruits of your labor. Glad you aren’t feeling too awful and hope your symptoms disappear soon! Do you have the energy to throw the ball for the boys? That was always our fallback if we couldn’t walk the dog. Take care of yourself though, and don’t overdo!

  13. Take care of yourself. I used to take a tennis ball and racket on dog walks and I could sit enjoying the sunshine whilst my son’s dog chased that ball for miles. Enjoy your bonus sewing time.

  14. Hope you feel better soon! Went to Las Vegas 2 weeks ago for a family wedding and came down with covid a few days after we got home. My husband is immunocompromised and got monoclonal antibodies–he was doing much better within 24 hours. Take it easy and gets lots of rest.

  15. So sorry to read your update! This nasty Covid just won’t go away! Here in Missouri, numbers of cases are going up.

We are being careful still. In November 2020, my husband got Covid, hospitalized 34 days, last rites on the Saturday before Thanksgiving, 9 months of therapy and a gazillion doctor appointments and tests.

In the late fall of 2121 he started to turn the corner finally. So much better than this time a year ago.

Please don’t overdo it – that my best advice. Stop activities before you tire out. Tha fatigue issue is real – and the body keeps score.

    Take care, Cheryl

  19. Oh my, I’m so sorry this happened to you! All that prep and boom. Can’t change things so take time to rest and get this stuff gone. I think it’s just in the air at this point. So many are unaware that they even have it, so what do you do?

  20. So sorry you have the covid — we just got out of covid jail — family had it on Mother’s Day. We have not been sick and this is our 6th day. Gave me time to plant my flowers. Your bags are just beautiful and I enjoy your blog. Just take it easy and this virus will soon leave.

    1. I’m glad you only had to stay in jail and didn’t get sick! I have a couple of friends that I may have infected who are, so far, ok. Only negative tests so far.

      Thanks for reading!

  21. Dear Agilejack!
I’ve been following your posts for some months now, because I just LOVE your bags! I haven’t had the time yet to sew one myself, because of my fathers sudden death and a quilt I have to finish for a friend of mine… Today was the day of the funeral. Still, I wanted to send you all my positive energy to fight the virus and I hope you’ll be better soon! Best wishes from Germany! Jennifer Weidner, Hamelin

  22. Oh, no! After all your work and excitement…..and now this. I hope you recover quickly so you can get back to making those beautiful bags. You’re such an inspiration! I just discovered your posts recently and love seeing your dogs, your bags, your lambs…all things to make me smile. I’m going to try my hand at making one of your bags next week. I think an array of them would look great in my den – holding my knitting and quilting UFO’s!….Sending healing vibes your way from Kent, Washington!

  23. Sorry to hear about your being sick. I sympathize as I too have it after sheltering for more than 2 years. I got a new care giver who gave it to my husband and then to me. Talk about irony! Good vibes coming your way

    1. It’s sneaky stuff. It’s hard to believe that after avoiding it for more than two years i get it now… after having my second booster shot. But, the good thing is that if you’re going to get it, now is a good time because it’s not as lethal. I feel like I got off lucky.
